The official website for the book Children's Tales of the Universe

Work hasn't quite begun yet on Mysteries of the Ghost Squeenburg, but might if we get the proper inspiration. We'd really like to be able to write the book before the next summer. Below are some ideas for the book we're considering. More ideas will be posted as the story develops.

The Dimension of Nothing: Anyone who has read even somewhat far into WYV knows what the Dimension of Nothing is, and readers of WYV may also have guessed that MGS would be focused mainly on the Dimension of Nothing and what Toby, Billy, Roy, and others find there. The Dimension of Nothing's properties combined with the assumption that anything has a probability of happening, something repeatedly explained in WYV, mean that literally anything can happen in the segment of the Dimension of Nothing the people of the Universe can access. In WYV Roy thought that the Cube People were the main civilization to fear of exploiting the Dimensin of Nothing, but they find that they have actually been keeping the Universe safe from another species bent on using the Universe as a way to achieve immortality for their entire race, and the only known person able to stop them has shunned his powers and only wants to be a chef....

Roy's brush with death: WYV ends abruptly during a party on the Squeenburg. After WonderClaus's outburst, which is described in WYV, several people including Dave leave the Squeenburg to escape any troubles that might arise from the outburst. Those who escaped are very grateful for doing so not because of the chaos, but because something hits the Squeenburg and knocks it into the Dimension of Nothing. Roy is one of the few to survive, and finds himself trapped in a secret labratory run by people wanting to make the Universe stupid in order to achieve immortality for themselves (the science behind that is in CTU).

Mr. Parrot's Return: Although Mr. Parrot dies in the Battle of the El Tuna Cafe, Billy and Toby's time traveling has brought Mr. Parrot to the present, as described in WYV. Although Billy and Toby try to get Mr. Parrot to help their allies Mr. Parrot's new view of life suddenly brings him into a mid-life crisis and he disappears. With all of the hype over the Dimension of Nothing, though, Mr. Parrot returns.
